When I met Kevin...
I had a really strange experience this summer. I worked with this boy, he was an extra at thr restaurant, just sixteen years old.
But we got along really well. Both of us were very happy with each others company, and very easily did we turn a dull shift into a carnival.
His name was not kevin, far from it. But without knowing how or why, he was kevin to me. Without thinking, I would say: "Kevin, could you please..." He looked at me with a funny face, said, "My name is Not Kevin!! I was confused, didn't know why I kept saying that - but it happened again and again.
After a while my "Kevin" started liking his new name, and i made up a story about how he was this musician called Kevin in his previous life, and in that same incarnation I had been his big sister. He loved the idea and we used to have a lot of fun with this "new reality" of ours.
Sometimes I wonder though. Could there be any truth to our little fantasy together? Have you ever met anyone for the first time, feeling you already know - all there is to know about them?

Hi!!
Well, I'm a Buddhist..and in our religion we belive in re-birth..Sometimes if there are strong emotional ties with someone from a previous birth, you tend to feel it..
Sometimes you know it completely..sometimes it's just something weird that's hard to explain....
So..maybe there is a connection which you can't quite work out.. or maybe it isn't... you never really know...
It's a strange world...
I have met ONE... ONCE.... where there was no doubt at all, with either of us that we had known each other for many lifetimes. iT was wonderful ;)
Sorry to ruin the dream but there is no incarnation. Incarnation is just the hope of the humans to prolong life in this world. They keep coming back again and again. Since every person is unique and there is no identical twin in this world then the life we live in this world is for one time only. There are two main reasons that you think that someone looks familiar :
1. Media and television are widely spreading information around. Each and every day we are being bombarded with faces of people. You see faces in movies, in news in the subway, in magazines, in newspapers... everywhere. So it's normal that someone's face rings a bell.
2. If you are talkin about deja vues, it has been proven by scientists that it's an instant neurological malfunction of the eyes; One eye sends the image to the brain in nanoseconds later than the other eye so the brain receives an already "imprinted" image giving you the impression that you already know that person or have seen his face elsewhere.
The rest is a work of your rich imaginations.
wellwell, you need more artillery than that to ruin my perception of reality... and
1: I am not talking about LOOKS of people, and
2: I am dot talking about deja vu's :)

Hi Nadiyya,
I enjoy reading your blog and I felt like commenting on this.. I hope you don't mind :)
Yes, what you say is true... You suddenly meet people that you feel like you've known them before, you have this wonderfully warm feeling about them and you feel like smiling... maybe it is a bond that you carry on through many births... I am also a Buddhist and I believe in reincarnation... It is said that Yasodhara, the wife of Prince Siddhartha, who later became Lord Buddha, was his wife in all his previous births and they had a very special bond between them that carried on through many lifetimes...
Commenting with regard to the anonymous comment, it is sad that sometimes, people always rely on science for answers and facts. Science, a product of human intelligence has the same characteristics as humans, the possibility to error. I believe strongly in Reincarnation because of my faith. Yes, I do not have evidence to show that it exists, but then no one has evidence to prove that it doesnt exist either... and scientists, and everyone on this earth one time thought that the world was flat... Guess that idea changed! :)
Take care, Ineshka
Thanks for that wonderful comment Ineshka!! I call myself a holist, but I find a lot of truth and beauty in buddhism and really want to learn more about it.
The other ones - those who reject all spiritual matters, their comments and attitude don't bother me much, maybe they have chosen to be mentally locked in this incarnation for a reason, truth is, they are just as spiritual as us on a higher level and I respect their choices also.
I truly believe we find soulmates through our lives. But that doesn't mean that every nice person you meet is your father/ wife / friend from previous life. It is certainly possible to meet new "soulmates" every day. My husband for instance, I am quite certain that we have not met before, but in this incarnation, we have formed a powerful alliance that I am sure will last through millennia.
Thanks so much for reading my blog Ineshka, I appreciate it!
namasté!
Hey Nadiyya,
Thanks for visiting my blog as well... :)) what you say in your reply is quite true... :) Buddhism is quite interesting, its a philosophy that is worth reading up on, if you have the time :)... It has helped me a lot in my life :) So I am not just a Buddhist my religion, but by my own faith! :)
Reading up on what you have written and what you say about yourself, I think that you will quite enjoy books by "Paulo Coelho"... Have you read any of his work?... If not, I can recommend all his books, although my favourite been "Veronika decides to die" and "By the river Piedra I sat down and wept" :) "The Alchemist" is one of his most famous works :)... I think you will enjoy them a lot :)
Take care Nadiyya...!
Funny that you say that!! Currently reading "Like the fløwing river" by PC... I haven't read anything by him before, but it truly was beautiful.
Yes, I have
And it is a wonderful experience, isn't it ;)
